A Beautiful Surprise...

Last week, when I went to check my PO box, I had a package notification waiting for me. This came as a surprise, since I haven’t ordered anything in a while.  So I headed to the counter to turn in my slip and get this mysterious package (thinking it was a mistake) and BAM a big ol’ package just for me.  It was even made out to my maiden name, so I know this was definitely not a mistake…lol!

What's in your area?

If you’ve read my random facts post, you understand that travelling far away is not always an option for me. This doesn’t stop my ExploRebel soul from seeking out new adventures. I try to utilize my off days as much as possible to explore locally. If its within a four hour drive, I consider it to be local……call me crazy - I know!

Below I will share a few tips and resources I use for exploring at “home”.

Getting all crafty ... Leather Art 101

This past weekend I took a road trip to Chicago for the Leather Work 101 class held at The Chicago School for Shoemaking and Leather Arts. This two-hour class was truly an amazing experience.
I loved the creative atmosphere of the studio. It was very open and inspiring. The class sizes are small which I truly appreciated. Our instructor, Breanna, was very patient and great at explaining the process. She did a great job helping us bring out our creative side.

In this class, we were given the option to create a cuff bracelet, a clutch purse, a belt or a key ring. I chose to make a clutch purse. Despite my hesitation, this was really fun to make. The school provides all the tools necessary to complete your projects and make them beautiful. Again, Breanna was an excellent instructor and very attentive to each person and their individual projects.

If you’re ever in the chicagoland area or looking for a reason for a quick road trip, I would highly recommend the Chicago School of Shoemaking & Leather Arts.  I’m definitely going to signup again and I may even check out the Shoemaking class next.

Q&A: ExploRebel? What's That? Who's That?

How did you come up with the name ExploRebel?
It’s a perfect name to describe me. I’m not afraid to experience new things and I’ve been told that I’m kind of a Rebel. I like to do things and go places that others around me wouldn’t even consider.  I realized that there is much more out there than what was offered to me growing up and I want to learn and see it all.  I also, got some help from my creative Sista Shanita…Hey Boo!
