Living like a Local - My Punta Cana B&B

Choosing a place to stay in Punta Cana was a bit overwhelming. There were a ton of resorts and hotels to choose from and the reviews were all over the place. After a lengthy search (well not really), I chose the Art Villa Dominicana.
The Art Villa Dominicana is a new Bed & Breakfast in the Bavaro area that opened its doors this year. At the time of booking, this location only had 9 reviews, but they were all pretty good. I figured this would be a great place for me to stay.  I was mainly attracted to the price and location. The local beach, a variety of restaurants, shops and a supermarket were all within a short walking distance.

The Host:
Daniel and Daria were amazing. They were very welcoming and accommodating. They are willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay pleasant. Unlike, most resorts, you don’t have anyone pressuring you to book tours, however if you do wish to take part in excursions, they can help with that too.  One night it began to rain, but I needed food. Daria drove me the restaurant and offered to pick me up when I was done.

The Facility:
The Art Villa reminded me of a college dorm, but more modern. I love that everything was all white with random pops of color and photos. Each room is named after an artist. I stayed in the Modigliani room. The bed was a bit hard, but it was nothing compared to my experience sleeping on beds in Thailand. To cut back on cost, rooms are cleaned every three days, but this can be changed upon request. Overall the place was pretty clean. **Quick Tip: if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. You may hear noise from guest going in and out.

Amenities:
Breakfast is included in the price and brought to your room every morning. It’s more of a continental style breakfast that consists of: fruit, two pieces of toast, coffee, juice and jam. Lets just say, I was glad that each room has a kitchenette and that there’s a grocery store near by, lol. The B&B does offer free WIFI and each room has air conditioning, which is always a plus. Towels are provided as well, but if you don’t want lint residue on your body after a shower, I would suggest bringing your own. I’m glad I always travel with my QuickDry towel.

Overall I would definitely recommend staying at the Art Villa Dominicana Bed & Breakfast. The location is perfect and so is the price. Daniel and Daria are great host that will take good care of you. Their staff was pretty great as well. Everyone greets you with a smile.

FYI’s before Booking:
The hotel takes cash only for payment upon arrival
Airport pickup will be arranged prior to arrival: Cost: $30
Bring insect repellant (you may have a few mosquitos inside)
Bavaro Beach is public: Do not let those Resort guards scare you
Solo Female Travelers: request an upper front facing room.

I hope you enjoyed my Punta Cana Recap. Until next time...
xoxo Melanie
